Our Story

Why MumNearby exists

My daughter is two years old. And somewhere in the middle of keeping her alive, keeping the house running, and trying to keep myself together โ€” I lost track of who I was before I became her mum.

Postpartum was not what I expected. It was not just the sleepless nights or the feeding chaos. It was quieter than that. It was Googling "postpartum food Singapore" at midnight while still in the hospital gown. It was searching for support groups and not knowing if I was sad enough to need one. It was going to the library to get parenting books because I genuinely did not know what I was doing. It was scrolling Instagram looking for new places I could take her โ€” first as an infant, then as a toddler โ€” somewhere clean, quiet, not too far, with a nursing room, maybe a coffee for me. It was sitting in a coffee shop alone for the first time in months, baby finally with someone else for an hour, and realising I had completely forgotten how to just be by myself.

I spent so much time those first two years searching. Searching for a good lactation consultant nearby. Searching for a quiet cafe that actually had space for a stroller. Searching for a playground that would not require a 45-minute MRT journey. Searching for a confinement nanny everyone seemed to know about except me. Every search led to seven Facebook group tabs, three outdated blog posts, and a WhatsApp thread I never got a response from.

MumNearby started as my own spreadsheet. A list I kept for myself โ€” places I had found, services that were actually good, spots near my MRT station that made life a little easier. At some point I thought: every mum in Singapore is doing this same search. Every single one. So I built the thing I wished existed.

It is not finished. It is probably never going to be finished โ€” Singapore keeps changing, new businesses open, others close. But it is real, it is growing, and it is completely free. No ads. No sponsored listings pretending to be recommendations. No booking fees. Just a mum, a spreadsheet that got out of hand, and the belief that mothers deserve better information than what currently exists. If you have found something that should be on MumNearby, or something that is wrong, please tell me. This is built for you โ€” it gets better when you are part of it.

What we stand for

๐Ÿ’š

Always free

No subscription. No sign-up. No ads. MumNearby is and will always be free for every Singapore mum.

โœ“

Manually verified

Every listing is checked before it goes live. Outdated numbers and closed businesses are removed. We would rather have fewer listings that are real than hundreds that waste your time.

Built from the inside

This was built by someone who needed it. Not a tech company. Not a marketing agency. A mum who spent too long searching for things that should have been easy to find.
